To tease a girl over text, let her know you want her and keep the details to yourself for a while. A line like “I have a confession about last night, but it’ll have to wait until I see you” gives her something to wonder about without asking anything of her. Send one hint at a time and let her replies decide how far it goes. Man’s Guide to Sexting, a program in The Coach app, teaches you to build that kind of tension with your girlfriend, your wife or someone you’ve just started dating.
Show me where to startA good tease makes it clear you want her and holds back the rest. Choose the kind that suits the moment, then change the details so they’re true for the two of you.
Building sexual tension over text depends less on clever lines than on timing and restraint. These six habits help.
A tease rarely ends with one text. What you send next depends on how she answers.
Man’s Guide to Sexting walks you through moments like these, from the first teasing line to reading her replies and bringing the mood into the evening. The quiz asks a few questions and builds your personal plan from your answers.
Let her know you want her. Save the details for later.
Man’s Guide to Sexting is a 14-lesson program in The Coach app that you read at your own pace. It teaches you to build desire by text in your own words instead of borrowed lines.
Why a hint often does more than an explicit line, and how to make your desire clear while you keep the details back.
How to notice whether she responds best to playful, romantic, slow-burning or bold messages, and why that can change from day to day.
How to move from an ordinary chat about the day into flirting without a sudden jump.
Answer a few questions, and your plan shows you where to begin.
In a long-term relationship, evenings can start to follow the same script, and a tease brings back a little mystery. A text as simple as “I booked a table for Thursday. That’s the only part of the evening I’m telling you about” gives her something to look forward to all week. Playful teasing texts for your girlfriend or wife can also come from everyday life: “You stole the blanket again last night. I’m keeping score.”
If you’ve just started dating, keep it lighter. You don’t know yet how direct she likes things, so tease her about your last date, her sense of humor or a moment you shared: “Still laughing at your review of that restaurant. I’d like a second opinion, in person.” If she plays along, go a little further next time. If she doesn’t, nothing is lost.
Teasing is one way to show her she has your attention. For other ways, read our guide on how to be a better lover.
A teasing text isn’t a promise she has to keep later. A mood that felt exciting at lunchtime may have faded by the time she gets home tired. When you see her, a look, a kiss or a short reminder of your text is enough to pick up where you left off. Then watch how she responds.
If she smiles and moves closer, carry on. If she’s exhausted or her mind is somewhere else, let it go for tonight. When she knows a tease never turns into pressure, it’s easier for her to play again.
When the evening does go where you both hoped, our guide on how to please a woman can help: it starts from what she enjoys.
These figures come from a survey of The Coach users after their first four weeks. They show what users reported, not a result every man will see.
Lists of teasing texts are a fine place to start, but the lines that work best come from your life together. Man’s Guide to Sexting shows you how to turn what you notice about her into texts that sound like you.

Start with something short and true. You can hint at what you’re thinking: “I had an idea about you earlier. The details are classified for now.” You can blame her for distracting you: “I had plans for this afternoon. You ruined them.” Or you can sketch a scene: “Rain on the window, a blanket and you with nowhere to be. That’s what I’m picturing.” Keep the one that sounds most like you.
Texts that make her feel wanted for who she is and leave her curious about what comes next. Mention something specific you noticed about her, then hint at what you’d like to happen without describing all of it. The same rule works for texts to make her want you sexually: make your desire clear and keep the details for later, so her imagination does part of the work.
Keep it simple and honest. You don’t need witty lines, only a real detail and a little restraint: tell her what you noticed, hint that there’s more you’re not saying yet, and stop. Short and sincere usually beats clever, and it gets easier once a few texts go well.
As far as she clearly wants to go, and no further. Start suggestive rather than explicit, and move one step at a time while she’s playing along. Keep anything explicit for when you know she’s alone with her phone and enjoying the chat. If she slows down, slow down with her.
Don’t send a string of follow-ups or ask why she went quiet. She may be busy, tired or simply not in the mood right now. Later, talk to her about something ordinary, and try teasing again on another day.
No. Playing hard to get makes her unsure whether you’re interested, while teasing makes it obvious that you are and keeps only the details back. Teasing never aims to make her anxious or jealous.
One emoji can help set the tone, especially if a line could be read as serious. Stick to a single emoji rather than a row of them, and keep the very suggestive ones for when they’re already part of how the two of you text.
